Although I prayed about what topic to address, I still had no clue what to write. During times of writer's block, I lean on scripture because it has never failed me with the answer to any questions I may have. That is what I did when I quit my job in 2015. I was very unsure of which direction to follow to fulfill my purpose and life dream of being a full-time writer. After praying for direction, I was led to the book of Habakkuk. This short but powerful Old Testament book had all the answers I needed. It spoke directly to my crisis with a simple answer: Habakkuk 2:2-3 2 And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readth. 3For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry." I read and researched this scripture several times. I asked God, "God, are you telling me that all I have to do is write my vision and it will happen at the time You prepared for it to activate? Is it really that simple, Jesus?"
There was doubt but, I quickly remembered other scriptures that seemed just as simple and they made a significant change in my heart, spirit, and life. There was no need to doubt the Word of God. I believed it to be true, and I started writing everything I imagined and wanted to happen.
As a Christian writer, I desired to create successful blogs, books, content, stories, and more. In 2015, I had only published one blog about being a Christian single and a few academic newsletters for my job. I had no writing and publishing company sending me any contracts with advances, nor any fiction published since college. I created this declaration with hope and faith. I prayed it, asking God to change or fix anything He didn’t assign me. Then I spoke it several times a day. Within days, I created my company, DreamWriterink! Writing & Publishing, I started writing my memoir, It's All to Come, and began editing and finishing books I began in the 90s.
Just saying these affirmations birthed these things.
I am a writer from birth. My writings are God-led, Christian inspired and motivated by the Holy Spirit inside of me. I will create award-winning literature, blogs, articles, manuals, newsletters, and websites.
My fiction and nonfiction will touch readers’ hearts and minds and I will have followers of all ages and demographics. My works will draw attention from award-winning authors, countless followers, journalists, publishers, screenwriters, students, colleges, and universities.
My author’s platform will be built on spiritual growth, truth, correct grammar and scholarly standards. It will stay current, engaging, funny, knowledgeable, and spark conversation nationally and internationally.
I am a teacher and entrepreneur and my writings and creativity will sustain me financially and mentally. I will want for nothing because I know and believe God will provide.
I will not sleep until I put pen to paper and fingers to keyboard EVERYDAY.
My literary awards will be countless. Universities and agents will seek me, my opinion and writings for their current curriculum, scholarly journals, magazines, and newspaper articles.
God will financially sustain DreamWriterInk! and will continue to give me new and inventive ideas, situations, and perspectives in all my writings. Newspapers and magazines will interview me, publish me, record me, and film me in classrooms, on broadcast networks, cable television, the Internet and global networks.
God will prepare and direct me to the right people at the right times to expand all my writings and CV. Writing, teaching and successful opportunities will come to me before I even ask for them.
God will reveal Himself as I write, teach, and publish. My writings will be as beautifully eloquent as the book of Psalms and intriguing and poetic as the book of Songs. I will aim to always be inspiring like the New Testament books of Paul. My works will reach new, old, and future generations to come.
Fear and doubt will flee from me by the grace of God. I will continually thank God for blessing me with the gift of writing and creativity. I will use my gifts to praise, teach about Him, and lead others to Him.
I shared all this with the women that came to my flash presentation. I taught them how to write the vision and asked them to let me know in a year what happened, changed, and manifested since they wrote their vision. I encourage you to do the same. Grab your tables (tablets, laptops, pen, and notebooks) and start writing your vision.
