Have you ever had to face a truth about yourself that you never realized? I have, let me tell you how it went:

Good friend: Crystal, can I tell you something?
Me: Girl, yeah.
Good friend: There's something about a blue-collar man! I love a man that works all day and not sit behind a desk!
Me: (muffled cringe)
Good friend: I like to know that he doesn't mind putting in the work....get his hands dirty.
Me: well.., uhm, it's not that I

don't like a blue-collar man...per ce. White color isn't always....ummm, how do I say....bad..? A man in a pair of slacks over jeans will always come in first place.
Good friend: I see men in suits all day. I'm over it.
Me: (thinking: private Catholic grammar school, Whitney Young Magnet high school, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated....)
My brain stressed. I became slightly light-headed and slightly ditsy. Memories raced through my thoughts as her silence grew. I was fighting a truth that I'd been denying for over thirty years.
Me: am I Bourgie?
Good friend: still laughing at my question
Me: :(
